It’s officially summer in the city! Toronto is heating up and with restrictions slowly lifting, people are out enjoying the warm weather!
With so much to do in the city of Toronto, sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s all hype and what’s worth it. I thought I’d help you out a little and give some recommendations.
Here are my favourite things to do throughout the summer including my favourite parks, ice cream shops, and products!
Pass The Time in the Parks
Trinity Bellwoods
I know, we’re starting off SO BASIC but even though everyone and their mother spends their Saturdays at Trinity it still is a vibe. Plus, hang here once and you officially get your Toronto citizen badge.

Toronto Music Gardens
Now THIS is a great waterfront spot! Grab a blanket and a book to relax for the day enjoying the beautiful scenery or enjoy some delicious takeout while watching some of the city’s most talented street performers. It’s a slice of serenity in the middle of the bustling city.
Stanley Park
This is the new “cool” park for Torontonians to hang at. This used to be a hot-spot for dogs but now humans have flocked here too. You can find Mabel and I here most mornings and we admit…sometimes we end up spending the whole afternoon.

Sugar Beach
The cutest waterfront beach on the East side of the city. It’s like a little oasis inside the core of Toronto. They also have the cutest chairs and umbrellas available for use. Highly recommend getting your Instagram beach shot here!
Icecream Spots to Keep You Cool

Ossington Ave.
Ice cream shop meets bakery, and the combination is absolutely DELICIOUS but be prepared to wait as there is ALWAYS lines during prime time.

Markham St.
Boozy. Gelato. Need I say more?!
I had the strawberry/mojito combo and it was bomb!

Queen St. W.
We’ve all seen the Insta posts of these grandiose cones and they do live up to the hype.
Their vanilla bean flavour makes ordering vanilla ice cream worth it.
Perfect Picnic Products
The Beach Bag
Toss all your beach/park essentials in here and have it ready to go! I always have sunscreen & tanning oil, a portable speaker, some design magazines, snacks and OF COURSE water.
Bonus if you have a small dog like Mable, you can toss them in the bag too!
The Picnic Blanket
I love collecting cute beach blankets/oversized towels for picnics or park outings. Most of mine were collected while travelling but I’ve found a few I think could be a great addition to your picnic/beach bag.
The Cooler Bag
There’s nothing better than an ice cold drink on a hot summer day but lugging around a giant cooler is not the most fun. Here are some options that keep you and your drinks cool.
Portable Dog Bowls
A fun day at the park is great for humans and puppies alike but we have to remember to hydrate our furry friends too. Here are some of Mabel’s favourite portable doggy bowls.
And with that we’re finished my list of essentials for summer in the city!
So grab your pup, call some friends and make some plans for an amazing summer filled with activities. Toronto is a great place to be all year round but there’s something about summer in the city that’s just so special. You never know what great new place you’ll find!
Here’s hoping these recommendations get you started!
